Sammy Maphaka – Karratha

A little bit about me:
I’ve lived in three different countries and lived in Australia for a decade with my mum and brother. I love to sing and play the ukulele and I’m obsessed with dogs! Selfies give me life and I love being surrounded by my friends.

How long I have been training with Life & Soul:
Been with Life and Soul for almost 4 years I think! In that time I’ve enjoyed the fitness classes, F45 and the Christmas Cracker Challenge!

My favourite area of the gym is:
The weights room! We have all of this new equipment to use and I love the challenge of learning how to use all of them.

My favourite exercise is:
Anything to do with working my back. Whether it’s the rowing machine, flies, lat pull downs, iso rows, my back is my new obsession.

My favourite meal is:
Dessert! More specifically waffles! I love how you can eat them with different types of toppings or just on their own, you can have them hot, cod, with fruit, chocolate so many combos available.

Most inspirational person/athlete in my life is:
Serena Williams! I’ve been watching her play tennis my whole life and when I was starting my fitness journey I liked how she uses exercise as a tool to stay in control and stay positive. I really liked that.

What I love most about training at Life & Soul is:
The vibe! You see people of all kinds of shapes and sizes walk through the doors and they all greet you with a smile! Learning and training with the F45 crew, Lava, Shelley, Piri, Cindy and Karlee has given me friendship in so many people and awakened an inner strength and confidence in myself that I never would have been brave enough to persue 30kg ago. THANK YOU MY L & S Family!!


Jo Barnes – Derby

A little bit about me:
I am from England and moved to WA in 2015. I worked in the city for a while and moved to Derby in 2016.

How long I have been training with Life & Soul:
Since I moved to Derby in October 2017

My favourite area of the gym is:
The treadmill and the free weights.

My favourite exercise is:
I don’t really have one; I try to enjoy it all.

My favourite meal is:
Chicken and mushroom pie and chips.

Most inspirational person/athlete in my life is:
Maybe Oprah Winfrey, she seems to talk a lot of good sense and reasoning.

What I love most about training at Life & Soul is:
That there is a variety of classes (even though I don’t use them).


Teresa Manning – Broome

A little bit about me:
I am a contract book keeper that loves fishing and camping. The gym helps me to keep active and not seize up with work and helps haul in the big fish.

How long I have been training with Life & Soul:
I’ve been with L&S this time round since Nov 2015 and was on and off prior to then.

My favourite area of the gym is:
RPM room and floor work area.

My favourite exercise is:
RPM & Ab work.

My favourite meal is:
Chicken in claypot & fried rice.

Most inspirational person/athlete in my life is:
My Dad & my Uncles who were involved in WAFL football – state, swimming, cricket – State, horse jockey

What I love most about training at Life & Soul is:
Friendly staff and atmosphere.
